The Reflector
The Reflector is the rarest Human Design type, roughly 1% of people. It is the only one of the five described as having no defined energy centres at all, which the system says makes a person a mirror of whatever room she is standing in. The strategy given is to wait a full lunar cycle, about twenty-eight days, before any significant decision. The signature of a life lived correctly is surprise, and the not self theme is disappointment.
If you have spent your life being told you are inconsistent by people who cannot see that you are accurate, this is the paragraph that usually does something.
What is a Reflector in Human Design?
Type comes from which of the nine energy centres in a chart are defined, calculated from birth date, time and place. A defined centre is described as consistent, something you generate reliably. An undefined centre is open, taking in whatever is around it and amplifying it.
The Generator and the Manifesting Generator both carry a defined Sacral, the centre the framework calls the life force motor. The Manifestor has a motor running to the Throat and no Sacral. The Projector has neither.
The Reflector has nothing defined. All nine open. The system does not treat that as an absence. It describes a woman who reads a room with a sensitivity no other type has access to, because there is no personal signal running underneath to drown it out.
Is the Reflector the rarest Human Design type?
Yes. The Reflector is consistently given as around 1% of the population, the rarest of the five types by a wide margin. The Manifestor is next at roughly 9%, then the Projector at about 20%, then the Manifesting Generator and Generator, who together account for most people.
That figure is worth sitting with. It means a Reflector will likely go a lifetime without knowingly meeting another one, and that the advice she was raised on was written for the other 99%. Be more consistent. Decide what you want. Stop changing your mind. Sound guidance for a defined chart, and in this framework actively harmful to one with nothing defined in it.
What is the twenty-eight day lunar cycle for a Reflector?
Every other type is given a decision-making authority somewhere in the body. Seven exist, and we set them all out in what is a Human Design authority. A Reflector is given none of them. The authority offered instead is time, one transit of the moon through all sixty-four gates of the chart, roughly twenty-eight and a half days.
The mechanic is this. As the moon moves it temporarily defines different parts of an otherwise open chart, so across a month a Reflector meets the same question from a sequence of different internal positions. The correct decision is the one still standing at the end.
In a life that looks unglamorous and quite specific. Big decisions do not happen in the meeting. They happen a month after it. The practice recommended is to talk it through out loud, repeatedly, with a few trusted people, and to notice what stays constant while everything else about you shifts.
The second instruction gets less attention and matters as much. Environment. A Reflector is described as taking on the frequency of a place more completely than anyone else, which makes the room, the city and the people the largest single variable in her wellbeing. Who she is around is not a preference here. It is closer to a health decision.

Read across that Reflector column and one thing separates it from the other four. Every other type is given something fixed to return to. This one is given a cycle.
What should a Reflector wear?
Most style advice assumes a stable subject. Find your colours, find your silhouette, build the capsule, repeat it forever. That is built for a defined chart, and it fails a Reflector in a way she usually blames herself for.
The failure sounds like this. She buys the piece she loved in the shop, wears it once, finds it wrong on a different day in a different room, and right again a month later. Then she decides she is bad at clothes. She is not. She is a different frequency in a different environment, which is exactly what her design says she is.
So the requirement inverts. She does not need a wardrobe that holds still. She needs pieces wide enough for several versions of her, and at least one that is genuinely singular, because a woman who spends her life absorbing everyone else needs something unmistakably her own.

The reason this piece belongs to this type is structural rather than poetic. Rainbeau is a seven day botanical dye, so the colour records one specific week of plants and water and weather that will not repeat. We cannot reproduce it on request. It is the only thing we make that is never the same twice, which is also the only honest description of a Reflector we have found.

What a Reflector taught me, from four centres away
I am not a Reflector, and the series is more useful if I say where I am standing.
The blueprint Erin Claire Jones wrote for me names five areas as my distractions, and they are the open parts of my chart. Inspiration, where I go mentally scattered. Conceptualisation, where I get defensive about being certain. Pressure, where I am in too much of a hurry and it is usually not my hurry. Flexibility, where I hold on to what feels safe. And worth, where I overcommit to prove something nobody asked me to prove. Five open centres, and managing them is most of my inner life.
A Reflector has nine. Every centre I struggle to tell apart from the room, plus four I have never had to think about, including the one that generates my energy and the one that tells me what I feel.
That reframed it for me. When a Reflector says she needs a month, she is not stalling. She is doing what I do with five, across nine, with no fixed point to steady it. My own instruction is to wait for emotional clarity and never decide on a high or a low. Hers is the same instruction, stretched over a moon.
