Moon Sign Calculator
A moon sign calculator finds the zodiac sign the Moon was in when you were born. Enter your birth date, time and place below. The Moon changes sign about every two and a half days, so the date is often enough, and the calculator tells you plainly when it is not.
your sun sign is who you are becoming. your moon sign is what you need along the way.

How does the moon sign calculator work?
It finds where the Sun and Moon were at the minute you were born, using the same astronomy that planetarium software uses, and converts each position into a zodiac sign. Everything runs in your browser.
- Birth date gives your sun sign and, on most days, your moon sign.
- Birth time settles your moon sign on days the Moon changed sign, and adds your rising sign.
- Birthplace sets the time zone, including historical daylight saving, and the horizon your rising sign is measured from.
What does your moon sign tell you?
Your moon sign describes what you need to feel safe: how you process emotion, what comforts you and how you care for others. I wrote about it in love, in work and in motherhood in what your moon sign actually means. If you know your birth time, the rising sign calculator leads with your ascendant instead.
Common questions
What is my moon sign if I don't know my birth time?
Often you can still know it. The Moon stays in each sign for about two and a half days, so if it did not change sign on your birthday, your date is enough. If it did, the calculator shows both possible signs and the local time the Moon moved, so you can place yourself.
How accurate is this moon sign calculator?
The positions come from Astronomy Engine, an open-source astronomy library, and in our tests they matched reference charts to within 2 arcminutes. The birth time you enter matters far more than the maths, which is why the calculator tells you when a sign sits within one degree of the next.
Does it use Western or Vedic astrology?
Western, or tropical, astrology, the system most horoscopes in English, Spanish and French use. Vedic astrology uses the sidereal zodiac, which currently places planets about 24 degrees earlier, so a Vedic moon sign can differ.
Is my birth data saved?
No. The calculation runs on your own device and nothing you enter is stored or sent. If you choose to join the Muse-Letter, we keep your email address and your three sign names, never your birth date, time or place.
With love from Bali,
Myrah
