How does the Human Design calculator work?
It finds where the Sun, Moon, planets and lunar nodes were at the minute you were born, and again at the moment the Sun was 88 degrees earlier, about three months before birth. Each position falls in one of 64 gates. When the gates at both ends of a channel are active, the channel is defined, and so are the two centres it joins. Your type, authority and profile all follow from that. Everything runs in your browser.
Why your birth time matters
The Moon crosses a whole gate in about half a day, and a few minutes can change which channels are defined. If a birth time 15 minutes either side would change your type, authority, profile or definition, the calculator tells you, so you know how much weight to give the result.

An honest note
Human Design is a contemplative framework, not a science. There is no peer reviewed evidence that it describes anything real about personality, and everything on this page says what the system says rather than asserting it as fact. Do I need my exact birth time for a Human Design chart?
Yes. A Human Design chart uses fast moving positions like the Moon, and a difference of minutes can change your authority or profile. A birth certificate or hospital record is the most reliable source. The calculator tells you when your result sits close to a change.
What are the five Human Design types?
Generator, Manifesting Generator, Projector, Manifestor and Reflector. Type is decided by which centres are defined, above all the Sacral and whether a motor connects to the throat. Generators and Manifesting Generators together make up around seventy percent of charts.
How accurate is this Human Design calculator?
Planet positions come from Astronomy Engine, an open-source astronomy library, accurate to a small fraction of a single line. We checked it against two professionally prepared charts, and the type, authority, profile, definition, centres and channels matched on both.
Is my birth data saved?
No. The calculation runs on your own device and nothing you enter is stored or sent. If you choose to join the Muse-Letter, we keep your email address, your sign names and your type, authority and profile, never your birth date, time or place.
