what your chart knows about what you charge

i priced my first collection by looking at what everyone else charged and then taking a little off. it took me years to understand that this was not humility.

Human Design does not predict income. It describes the mechanics underneath it: where your drive to earn is consistent, and where your sense of worth wobbles. The centre that holds both is the Heart, also called the Will or Ego centre, and whether yours is defined or undefined changes how you price.

Does Human Design say anything about money?

It says something about willpower and worth, which is where most money decisions are actually made. Human Design is a synthesis system assembled in 1987, drawing on the I Ching, the Hindu chakra system, Western astrology and the Kabbalistic Tree of Life. It has no peer reviewed evidence base, and we have never claimed otherwise on this site. What it has is a vocabulary. Used honestly it is a mirror. Used badly it becomes a reason to stop asking for what you are worth. If the system is new to you, start with what Human Design actually is.

What is the Heart centre in Human Design?

The Heart centre, the small triangle on the right side of the chart, governs willpower, self worth, ego and the capacity to keep a promise. It is the money centre. Roughly a third of people have it defined, meaning coloured in and consistently available. The rest have it undefined or open: the willpower is there some days and gone on others. Neither is better. What an undefined Heart centre does to your pricing

It makes you undercharge. My own blueprint, prepared for me by Erin Claire Jones, names the distraction as overcompensating and overcommitting, and under it this line: you may undervalue yourself and not ask for an appropriate price for your contributions, pricing your offerings below market value or giving away your services. It adds that the willpower is meant to come and go, and that promises are unhealthy for me to make.

I am an Emotional Manifesting Generator, born 28 August 1984, so my authority is the full emotional wave, not a decision made in a bright moment. For years I read my inconsistent drive as a character flaw and tried to fix it by working harder and charging less. The blueprint says the opposite: do not undercharge and ask for what you are worth. And the line I have printed and kept: you have nothing to prove.

What a consistent money drive looks like instead

Robindra is a Sacral Generator, born 10 January 1977, and his chart carries a drive mine does not. His blueprint reads: you have a great potential to make money and a deep need and enormous capacity to transform hard work into material success. It also says he can naturally evaluate whether the time and effort spent is worth the money earned, and warns that if he does not value his own place he can become a workaholic.

That is the division of labour in this house, and it was there long before either of us read a chart. I decide what a piece should be. He decides whether the maths holds. More on that in running a business as two very different designs.

How we actually price a garment

By the hours in it, not by the market. The Osmanthus Set is $288. It is 100% linen, OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified, botanically dyed here in Bali and run as a yin yang, the deeper Matcha green on one side and the lighter on the other, two dye baths in a single garment. That takes our artisan families considerably longer than one colour would, and there is no honest way to shorten it. The price is that time, paid at a real living wage. It leaves Bali 3 to 6 weeks from order, then 5 to 15 business days with DHL.

The undefined Heart wants to apologise for that number. The work is to state it and stop talking.

Four things to do with this, in order

• Find your Heart centre on your chart. Coloured in means defined. White means undefined or open.
• If it is undefined, write down the last three times you lowered a price unasked. The pattern is usually visible in three examples.
• Stop making promises about energy you cannot guarantee. Say what you can do, not when you will have the will to do it.
• Price by your inputs, not by the market's. Hours, materials, wages. Then do not move.

Then decide by your authority, not your mind, because the mind is where the proving happens. Mine is emotional, so no price is final on the day I set it.

As a business instruction it is almost rude in its plainness. Fewer things, told better. My own reading says enthusiasm is the real abundance frequency, and that prosperity arrives through working as an equal rather than above or below anyone. Both are more useful than any revenue target we have written down.

It can tell you how to start. Manifestors initiate and inform. Generators and Manifesting Generators respond to what is in front of them. Projectors wait for recognition rather than chase it. What should I charge if my Heart centre is undefined?

Build the number from your inputs, not from comparison. Hours, materials, what you pay the people who help you, what you need to live. Comparison is the exact mechanism that makes an undefined Heart undercharge, so removing it from the calculation is the fix.
