Feng Shui Haircut Calendar December 2026: The Winter Solstice Month and Its Best Cutting Days
The best day to cut your hair in December 2026 is Thursday 17 December. It is the one date in the month where the Chinese almanac calls a Remove day and the moon reaches first quarter on the same afternoon.
That is unusually clean. The feng shui haircut calendar and the lunar calendar measure different things and normally send you to different appointments. This month they agree three times, and December carries the pivot of the whole Chinese year inside it. Below is every favourable and unfavourable date, computed from the new moon of 9 December rather than copied.
What the Feng Shui Haircut Calendar December 2026 Is Measuring
Almost every haircut calendar online descends from the Tong Shu, the Chinese almanac that has assigned daily activities for centuries. The layer governing grooming is jian chu: twelve day officers rotating in fixed order, Establish, Remove, Full, Balance, Settle, Grasp, Break, Danger, Success, Receive, Open, Close.
Remove is the one that matters for hair: the almanac's day for taking things away. Remove days recur every twelve days, anchored to the solar month rather than the lunar one, which is why a feng shui calendar seems to pick two or three arbitrary dates and then go quiet. For the architecture underneath, what WOFS actually is takes it apart layer by layer.
December carries a solar boundary in the first week. Major Snow, da xue, falls on Monday 7 December at 11:41 UTC and shifts the month branch from Pig to Rat, resetting the officer sequence mid stride. That is why 6 and 7 December both read as Balance days. Not an error, simply what a solar term does mid month, as Start of Winter did in November.
The Eleventh Lunar Month Begins on 9 December
The tenth lunar month, opened 9 November, closes on Tuesday 8 December. The eleventh begins Wednesday 9 December at 00:51 UTC, 08:51 Bali time, on the new moon in Sagittarius.
This is the month everything else hangs from. In the Chinese calendar the eleventh lunar month is defined as the one containing the winter solstice, and the rest of the year is counted outward from it. The solstice lands on Tuesday 22 December at 05:38 UTC, comfortably inside.
So December splits. The first eight days are the emptying tail of the tenth month, lunar days 23 to 30. From the ninth you are on fresh light.
Best Days to Cut Your Hair in December 2026
Thursday 17 December. Remove day, lunar day 9, Ox day, moon waxing through Pisces at roughly forty nine percent. First quarter falls at 05:42 UTC that morning, so the almanac's day for removal opens exactly as the light crosses the halfway line. The strongest date of the month by a clear margin. Book this one.
Saturday 26 December. Open day, lunar day 18, Dog day, moon waning through Leo at roughly ninety three percent. Open days sit just below Remove days, and this one lands in the month's only Leo window, the classic combination for density at the root. It also falls in the quiet week after Christmas.
Tuesday 29 December. Remove day, lunar day 21, Ox day, moon waning through Virgo at roughly sixty seven percent. Virgo is the precision window, and a Remove day inside it is the best date for taking off split ends without losing length.
Friday 4 December. Remove day, lunar day 26, Rat day, moon waning at twenty one percent. Auspicious by the almanac, thin by the moon. Fine for maintenance, less so for a cut you want back quickly.
Tuesday 1 December and Monday 14 December are the month's Open days, the secondary tier. The 1st, on a half lit waning Virgo moon, is the better of the two.
Days to Avoid in December 2026
Three officers are traditionally unfavourable.
Break days: 10 and 22 December. The least favourable officer in the cycle for any deliberate act. Note that 22 December is the winter solstice, which most people assume must be auspicious. In the almanac's own logic it is not.
Danger days: 11 and 23 December. Traditionally avoided for anything involving a blade.
Close days: 2, 15 and 27 December. Close days seal rather than open and rate poorly for grooming. Two of these matter, because the moon calendar likes both the 15th and the 27th.
Skip 9 December too: a Grasp day on a dark moon.
Where the Feng Shui and Lunar Calendars Disagree This Month
The lunar hair calendar for December 2026 names 20 and 21 December as the strongest growth days, on a waxing Taurus moon at eighty two to ninety percent. The almanac calls those Settle and Grasp: not favourable, not forbidden. Take them if you want length, knowing the almanac is neutral rather than encouraging.
The sharper conflicts are the 15th and the 27th. The moon calendar rates 15 December well for soft Pisces growth and 27 December for waning Leo density. The almanac marks both Close days and avoids them outright. In each case a neighbour satisfies both: move the 15th to the 17th, the 27th to the 26th.
When the two conflict, take the day both tolerate. For the reasoning underneath the phases, when to cut hair for growth covers it in full.
Common Questions About the Feng Shui Haircut Calendar December 2026
What is the best day to cut your hair in December 2026? Thursday 17 December 2026. It is a Remove day in the Chinese almanac, and the moon reaches first quarter at 05:42 UTC the same morning, waxing through Pisces at around forty nine percent. It is the one date where both systems clearly agree.
What are the WOFS haircut days for December 2026? The Remove days of 4, 17 and 29 December, with the Open days of 1, 14 and 26 December as the secondary tier. Published WOFS editions layer further systems on top of jian chu, so a printed almanac may differ by a day. The sequence here is computed, not copied.
When does the eleventh lunar month start in 2026? The eleventh lunar month begins on Wednesday 9 December 2026 at the new moon, 00:51 UTC, and runs into January 2027. It is defined as the month containing the winter solstice, which falls on 22 December.
Is the winter solstice a good day to cut your hair? Not in the Chinese almanac. The solstice on 22 December 2026 falls on a Break day, the least favourable officer in the twelve day cycle. It matters enormously for the structure of the calendar and not at all for grooming.
Why do the feng shui and lunar hair calendars rarely agree? They run on different clocks. The lunar calendar tracks the moon's phase and sign. The feng shui calendar tracks the day officer, anchored to the solar month and the sixty day cycle. Overlap is coincidence, which is what makes 17 December worth booking early.
For the whole year, the 2026 lunar hair calendar hub maps every cycle in both systems.
The almanac is not a rule. It is a way of slowing a decision down until you can tell whether you wanted the haircut or just wanted something to change.
With love from Bali,
Myrah.
