When we stop “trying” and surrender to the flow of life beautiful things happen!

It’s been a while since I last shared an update here. A lot has shifted.

Our little family was displaced from our home recently due to a mysterious gas leak. At first we resisted everything, trying to find solutions, trying to find new places to live. Nothing seemed to work. And more importantly, nothing seemed to make sense to our hearts.

When we visited new places to move to, they felt suffocating. The idea of living in the city didn’t feel right. So we decided not to rush any major decisions. We sold our larger furniture. Put the rest into storage. And instead of forcing a direction that wasn’t working, we stopped trying. We let ourselves be moved by what was actually happening.

We decided to hit the road and flow.

What Happened When We Stopped Trying

Since we were already heading to Spirit Weavers Gathering and then had plans in British Columbia to lead our own Bloom Bowen weekend retreats, we recognised that we were already in motion. So we went with it. Stopped resisting. Followed the current.

It has been about a month on the road. At first we felt super vulnerable, literally living out of our car, camping, staying at hotels. But it has been one of the most incredible experiences of our lives.

We went completely offline for two weeks camping riverside in forests. Visited many hot springs. Crater Lake, the world’s deepest volcanic lake. Mt Shasta, Bend Oregon, Portland, Seattle, Vancouver, Vancouver Island, Whistler. Last night we found a beautiful camping spot alongside a river with our baby and our little fur child Suri.

It is in the moments when we stop trying and surrender to the flow of life that beautiful things begin to occur.

We have met more people, and possible lifelong friends, along this journey than we did in years of staying put. That only happened when we listened carefully to the tune of our lives and surrendered to what was actually happening. When we stopped forcing a direction and started following the one that was already there.

Kundalini Yoga is, for me, a scientific way to get out of my own way and into the bliss we came here to experience. Not someday. Now. In the ordinary, river-camping, car-living, completely unplanned moments of now.

I see you. The ones who take a moment to read these words. Who show up in person, on social media, over email. The connections that happen outside these tiny boxes are the ones that matter most.

With love from the road,
Myrah

A Piece for This Threshold

Origami Gown

The piece Myrah and Kristen were wearing on the road when this was written. Bamboo rayon that moves like water. A silhouette that arrives fully formed and asks nothing of the day except presence. For the woman who has learned to follow the current.
