Creative Alchemy with Hands of Wonder author, artist and self healer Irene de Brice

As part of our 30 Love Stories series, we continue with one of the most moving stories we have shared yet.

Meet Iréne de Brice, Costa Rican bioscientist, certified holistic health practitioner, and self-taught artist behind PURāPRāṇA.

Hands of Wonder book by Irene de Brice

Iréne created her book Hands of Wonder as an act of self-healing. A gratitude offering to what she holds sacred. Pure love for a craft she had long neglected. She had no intention of selling it when she began in 2016. Then her local community found it. Then her friends and family pushed her to share it. It turned into something bigger than she ever intended.

"I made this book as an act of self-healing, a gratitude offering to what I hold sacred for all the blessings throughout my life, and just out of pure love for my very neglected craft."

This is Iréne doing her creative work, wearing our Frida Gown. Images like this genuinely warm our hearts and keep us inspired to keep creating. More women experiencing the freedom that expressed creativity brings. That is the whole point.

Iréne blends 15 years of devotion to biosciences with alternative studies, contemplative art meditations, and art medicine. Her work is gateway art: it opens the beholder to creative alchemy through self-work. She teaches from the intersection of science, nature, and spirit, because she knows all three are necessary. None of them alone is sufficient.

Seed of Life art by Irene de Brice

What are you excited about right now?

That I have finally and wholeheartedly said yes to what is being asked of me as my soul purpose. Even if I find putting myself out there terrifying. Small steps. Deep breaths.

What daily ritual are you practising?

Making a huge effort to roll out of bed and staying self-accountable to my very early morning sadhana.

What is your dharma in two words?

Creative Alchemy.

I want it to reach the people who need it. If it can bring any joy and awaken creative healing, that is everything.
