Slow, ethical and sustainable production
For every order you make, we give back to Bali
The Virgo Kaftan has been in this house longer than almost anything. The Oracle Virgo is that kaftan, made once, in a way we will not make again.
Along the neckline and across the shoulders, a spiral and a river are worked by hand in thread. The spiral is the oldest mark there is, the shape of a shell, a fern, a galaxy, the way a decision returns to itself. The river runs from it, the way water finds the path that was always there. Nothing is printed. Every line was stitched by one of the artisan women in Pererenan who have sewn for us since the beginning, so no two pieces carry exactly the same hand.
We changed one other thing. A slit now opens at each shoulder, so the kaftan can be worn closed and quiet, or with the shoulder showing and the embroidery framing it. Cinched at the front, it is a dress. Open, it is the thing you throw over everything else.
The body is the crinkle linen and cotton blend you already know from the Virgo Kaftan. It needs no iron, it improves with every wash, and it moves before you do. The crinkle looks stronger in a photograph than it feels on the body, where it softens and drapes. We always suggest wearing it before forming an opinion.
Off White only. S/M and M/L. The cut runs relaxed; see our sizing guide. Wash cold and gently, hang to dry, and keep the embroidery out of the dryer.
Fifteen were made. They are in stock now and ship from Bali. When they are gone, this piece is finished. We are not remaking it.
She is the woman who has worn the Virgo for years and wanted, once, the version no one else would have.
Shipping
Everything we make is handmade in Bali by our artisan families, in small batches and to order. Whether your piece is waiting in the studio or cut for you after you order, it is finished, checked and packed by hand, so allow 14 to 28 days before dispatch. Botanically dyed pieces spend another 10 to 14 days in the dye. Once your order leaves Bali, transit is 5 to 15 business days, and tracking reaches your inbox within 5 days of dispatch.
Shipping is free worldwide on orders of $350 USD and over. Below that, one flat rate by region: $15 to the US, Canada and Mexico. $18 to Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, India and Indonesia. $25 to the UK and Europe. $32 everywhere else.
Duties and taxes are collected on arrival. Since August 2025, most US orders carry a DHL duty charge, and VAT or GST applies in the UK, Europe, Australia and New Zealand.

Exchanges and Cancellations
If a piece arrives and the fit is not right, or it arrives damaged, you have 10 days from delivery to exchange it. We issue store credit rather than cash refunds, and the piece needs to come back unworn, unwashed, unaltered, with tags attached. Return shipping is yours unless the piece arrived damaged or incorrect.
Custom and made-to-order pieces, sale items and anything bought with store credit are final sale. They were cut for you and cannot belong to anyone else.
Orders can be cancelled within 24 hours of placing them.
Not sure of your size? Write to us before you order at support@myrahpenaloza.com. Five minutes now saves a piece travelling back to Bali or to our returns warehouse in the US.
