The Foundation of Self-Love Is Learning to Trust Yourself

I used to make decisions and then immediately doubt them.

Not small decisions. All decisions. What to create, where to go, who to trust, what to build. The decision would arrive with a kind of clarity, and then, almost immediately, the questioning would begin. Was that the right choice? What if it's wrong? What if there was a better option I missed?

It exhausted me. And it was costing me something real.

What Self-Doubt Actually Is

Self-doubt is not a character flaw. It is not a sign that you are not ready, not wise enough, not spiritual enough. It is a sign that somewhere along the way, the trust you had in your own knowing was interrupted.

Maybe someone told you that you were wrong too many times. Maybe you made a choice that didn't work out and you decided that meant your instincts couldn't be relied on. Maybe you were raised in an environment where your inner knowing was overridden by someone else's certainty.

Whatever the source, the effect is the same. A gap between the knowing and the trusting of the knowing. Between the feeling and the willingness to act on it.

Self-love begins with closing that gap.

The Practice of Trusting Yourself

It is a practice. Not a switch you flip. Not a feeling you access once and then have forever. A practice, meaning you come back to it every day, in small decisions and large ones, building the evidence base that your instincts are reliable, that your inner knowing is trustworthy, that you are, in fact, the best authority on your own life.

The practice looks like this: making a decision and then not second-guessing it. Not endlessly relitigating it. Not asking seventeen people what they think before you act.

Making the decision. Trusting the decision. Living inside it long enough to see what it produces.

And when a decision produces something painful, which decisions sometimes do, not interpreting that as evidence that you cannot be trusted. Interpreting it as information. Data for the next decision.

The more I rest into trusting my intuition and the very steps I take today, the more at peace I feel and the more flow I find myself in.

What Flows When You Trust

This is what surprised me most when I began to actually practice self-trust: things got easier.

Not because the challenges disappeared. Because I stopped fighting with myself. The energy I had been using to question every decision became available for the work of actually living the decisions I made.

Flow is not the absence of difficulty. It is the absence of self-opposition. It is the particular ease that arrives when you are moving in alignment with your own inner knowing rather than in constant negotiation with it.

That ease is available to you. It is not a gift for certain people. It is the natural result of developing a trusting relationship with yourself.

A Practice for Today

Give yourself a hug today. Literally, if you can. Look in the mirror and acknowledge, quietly, the woman you are looking at. Not the woman you are trying to become. The one who is already there. Already doing the work. Already worthy of your own trust.

The universe truly does have your back. But the first back it needs you to have is your own.

With love from Bali,
Myrah.
