Slow, ethical and sustainable production
For every order you make, we give back to Bali
At the end of her life a sunflower bows her head. She has spent every day facing the light, and now she turns toward the earth and gives her seeds back to it. I have always thought this is the most generous thing a flower does. She does not hold the sun for herself. She offers it.
This set began with that bow. The linen is covered edge to edge in sunflowers, open faces, small red buds and long leaves, scattered the way a field looks when every flower has turned toward the same light. Wherever you look, one of them is facing you.
The Sun Offering is the sister of The Altar to Oshun Suka Set. Oshun places a few great sunflowers by hand, one along each shoulder and at the mouth of every pocket. The Sun Offering is the whole field.
Put it on and it feels like the last gold hour of a Bali afternoon, when the light softens and nothing needs to hurry. The linen is cool against your skin. The top is cut wide and open, falling from the shoulder like a wing, and the shorts move with you. Suka carries the old Sanskrit word sukha, which means ease and joy, and this is ease you can feel in your body.
Each piece was cut and sewn by one of our artisan families here in Bali, in a workshop they own themselves.
There is one. One set, in S/M. It is the very first release of our 2027 collection, made before the rest of it. The Sun Offering returns in the new year, but there will only ever be one first.
100% linen. Matching button-down top and wide-leg shorts. Available now in S/M. Machine wash cold, inside out, hang dry. Allow 3 to 6 weeks from order to shipment, then 5 to 15 business days with DHL. This set is already sewn, so it may leave Bali sooner. Runs relaxed, see the sizing guide.
For the woman who is learning to give from her fullness, and to turn her face toward whatever is warm.
Each panel is cut by hand, so the sunflowers fall a little differently on every set. There is only one of this first set, and it is offered at one price to everyone.
Before you order
Is there really only one?
Yes. This is the first Sun Offering, made ahead of the 2027 collection. More will come in the new year. If you want the first, it is here now.
Which size should I choose?
This first set is S/M. The Suka is one of the most forgiving shapes I make, the top relaxed and generous through the shoulder, the shorts on a wide elastic waist. If you usually wear between a US 2 and 10, the S/M will likely sit beautifully on you. M/L joins it in the new year. For how to measure and how our linen sets fit, see the sizing guide.
How long will it take to arrive?
It leaves Bali 3 to 6 weeks after you order, then travels 5 to 15 business days with DHL, tracked. Because this set is already sewn, it may leave sooner. You get tracking the day it ships.
How do I care for it?
Machine wash cold, inside out, and hang to dry out of harsh sun so the sunflowers stay bright. The linen softens with every wash.
Can I exchange it if the fit is not right?
Yes, as an exchange. You have 10 days from delivery to send it back unworn, unwashed and with its tags, and we issue store credit toward the piece that is right. We do not offer cash refunds. Because there is only one, please write to support@myrahpenaloza.com with your bust, waist, hip and height before you order, and we will tell you honestly.
Shipping
Everything we make is handmade in Bali by our artisan families, in small batches and to order.
Whether your piece is waiting in the studio or cut for you after you order, it is finished, checked and packed by hand, so allow 3 to 6 weeks before dispatch, with botanically dyed pieces toward the longer end.
Once your order leaves Bali, transit is 5 to 15 business days, and tracking reaches your inbox within 5 days of dispatch.
Shipping is free worldwide on orders of $350 USD and over.
Below that, one flat rate by region: $14.99 to the United States. $15 to Canada, Mexico and Asia. $18 to Australia and New Zealand. $25 to the UK and Europe. $32 everywhere else. Free within Indonesia.
Duties and taxes are collected on arrival. Since August 2025, most US orders carry a DHL duty charge, and VAT or GST applies in the UK, Europe, Australia and New Zealand.
Exchanges and Cancellations
If a piece arrives and the fit is not right, or it arrives damaged, you have 10 days from delivery to exchange it. We issue store credit rather than cash refunds, and the piece needs to come back unworn, unwashed, unaltered, with tags attached. Return shipping is yours unless the piece arrived damaged or incorrect.
Pieces customised for you (made to your measurements, in a custom colour or altered to your request) are final sale, because they were cut for you and cannot belong to anyone else. Sale items, anything bought with a discount code of 25% or more, and anything bought with store credit are also final sale. Made-to-order pieces in our standard sizes and colourways can be exchanged.
Orders can be cancelled within 24 hours of placing them.
Not sure of your size? Write to us before you order at support@myrahpenaloza.com. Five minutes now saves a piece travelling back to Bali or to our returns warehouse in the US.
