Is white linen see-through?

It depends on the weight. Ours is a mid-weight French linen, and the women who wear it tell us it is not see-through in ordinary light. In bright sun, a nude layer underneath is the safe choice. Never white, which shows through more than your own skin tone does.

How do I keep white linen white?

Wash it cold, on its own or with other whites, and hang it to dry. Linen lets go of marks more easily than cotton, so treat a stain while it is fresh. Skip chlorine bleach, which weakens and yellows linen over time. An hour on the line in the sun does more than anything in a bottle.

Can I wear a white linen dress to a wedding?
