Lunar Hair Calendar July 2026 — Best Days to Cut for Growth, Strength & Shine

If you have ever cut your hair and had it grow back faster than expected — or had a trim that somehow lasted three months — the moon might have more to do with it than you think. The lunar hair calendar is one of the oldest beauty tools in existence, used across cultures from ancient Ayurveda to traditional Balinese practice. Here is July 2026's calendar, mapped and ready to use.

The principle is straightforward: the moon governs the tides, the sap in trees, and — according to ancient and many modern practitioners — the growth rate and vitality of hair. Cut during the waxing (growing) phase in fertile signs, and you encourage fuller, faster regrowth. Cut during the waning (shrinking) phase in dry signs, and the trim holds longer. Neither is wrong — it depends on your goal.

Understanding the July 2026 Lunar Cycle

July 2026 opens in a waxing phase — the moon is building toward fullness. The Full Moon arrives approximately July 10, 2026, in Capricorn, before the cycle moves into its waning phase. The New Moon falls around July 25, 2026, in Leo, opening a fresh waxing window to close out the month.

This gives July two waxing windows — one at the start of the month (July 1–9) and one at the end (July 26–31). If growth is your goal, these are your cut windows. The waning phase runs roughly July 11–24, which is the window for trims that stay trimmed longer.

Best Days to Cut in July 2026 for Growth & Length

Cut during the waxing moon in water and earth signs for the strongest growth response:

July 4–5: Waxing moon in Cancer. The most fertile window of the month. Cancer is the water sign most associated with growth, nourishment, and hair vitality in nearly every traditional lunar system. If you want significant length gains, this is your date. Keep the trim minimal — a dusting of the ends is all you need to signal growth to the follicle without removing what you are building.

July 7–8: Waxing moon in Virgo. Earth energy — steady, structured growth. Hair cut now tends to come in thicker and more even. An excellent window for those with fine hair who want more body over time. Virgo is also the sign of health and daily ritual, making this a strong date for establishing a new haircare routine alongside your cut.

July 1–2: Waxing moon in Taurus. Strong earth energy, roots and stability. A solid opening window for the month — good for scalp treatments and a dusting cut if you are in an active growth phase. Taurus rules beauty and the physical body; this is a grounded, nourishing energy for hair.

July 30–31: Waxing moon in Scorpio. The closing days of July bring one of the most potent hair growth windows of the month. Scorpio is a deep water sign — cuts made now are said to encourage dramatic regrowth and intense vitality. A favourite among women who follow the lunar calendar seriously. If you can only book one appointment this month, and growth is the goal, book it here.

July 27–28: Waxing moon in Virgo. The second Virgo window of the month, consistent with the first. Good for thickness and even regrowth. Excellent for fine or thinning hair types.

Best Days in July 2026 to Minimise Regrowth

July 13–14: Waning moon in Leo. Leo is a fire sign — dry, barren, and one of the best options if you want your trim to hold as long as possible. Cuts during waning Leo are said to minimise regrowth significantly. If you like your hair short and want to maximise time between appointments, this is your window.

July 19–20: Waning moon in Sagittarius. Another fire sign window. Good for minimising growth. Also a strong day for a scalp-clarifying treatment — Sagittarius energy is expansive and purifying, well-suited to clearing product buildup.

July 22–23: Waning moon in Aquarius. An air sign window. Neutral to slow growth. Ideal for colour treatments or any chemical service — hair is less porous during the waning phase and holds colour more evenly.

The July Scalp Ritual

Whatever days you choose to cut, July's Cancer and Scorpio energy makes this one of the best months of the year for scalp oiling. Water signs amplify absorption and nourishment — a pre-wash scalp oil treatment done between July 4–8 or July 30–31 is likely to work significantly harder than the same treatment done on a random day in a fire month.

A simple ritual: warm a tablespoon of unrefined coconut or sesame oil with two drops each of rosemary and lavender essential oil. Section the hair and work the blend into the scalp with slow, circular pressure for five minutes. Leave for at least 30 minutes — longer if you can manage it — then wash out with a gentle, sulphate-free cleanser. Done consistently through the water sign windows of the year, this practice builds cumulative thickness and scalp health that most topical treatments cannot replicate.

How to Use This Calendar

The lunar hair calendar is a tool, not a rule. If your schedule does not align with an optimal date this month, cut on the day that works for you and trust that consistency of care matters more than perfect timing. These windows simply give you an edge — and for those of us who have been following the lunar cycle for years, the edge is real and measurable.

These dates are based on the 2026 lunar ephemeris and are approximate. For precise timing in your time zone, cross-reference with a dedicated lunar calendar app such as TimePassages or Moon Calendar. And if you are new to this practice, start simply: note what day you cut, what phase the moon was in, and how quickly your hair grows back. Three or four cycles is usually enough to become a convert.

The moon has always been in conversation with the body. July is simply a good month to start listening.

With love from Bali,
Myrah.
