The Spirit Top is made by memory — woven on handlooms by Balinese families who learned from the generation before them and will teach the generation after. You can feel the difference the moment you hold it: a weight and warmth that machine-cut fabric never quite achieves, a texture that your hands want to keep returning to.

Tumanggal is an ancient Balinese hand-weaving tradition. The Spirit Top is woven — not printed, not cut from bolt fabric — using this technique in the hill villages of Bali where the practice has survived centuries. Each piece is made on a handloom, which means the weave pattern is not perfectly uniform. That is not imperfection. That is proof. Made by the families who carry this tradition, with whom Myrah has built direct, lasting relationships over years.

Available in multiple colorways. Tumanggal cotton. Hand wash cold or delicate machine wash, hang dry. The Spirit Top is cropped and runs slightly fitted — please refer to the sizing guide for measurements.

Wear it over the Shanti Wrap Skirt. Wear it tucked into wide-leg linen trousers. Wear it alone on a warm evening as a piece that does not need anything added to it. The Spirit Top has been here for centuries before you. It will be beautiful long after the trend cycle moves on.

Every Tumanggal piece is handwoven, which means the weave will vary slightly between pieces. Colors may also vary from the photograph because natural dyes and handloom weaving respond differently to each run. This variation is the signature of the craft, not a flaw in the product.

Everything we make is handmade in Bali by our artisan families, in small batches and to order. 

Whether your piece is waiting in the studio or cut for you after you order, it is finished, checked and packed by hand, so allow 3 to 6 weeks before dispatch, with botanically dyed pieces toward the longer end. 

Once your order leaves Bali, transit is 5 to 15 business days, and tracking reaches your inbox within 5 days of dispatch.

Shipping is free worldwide on orders of $350 USD and over. 

Below that, one flat rate by region: $14.99 to the United States. $15 to Canada, Mexico and Asia. $18 to Australia and New Zealand. $25 to the UK and Europe. $32 everywhere else. Free within Indonesia.

Duties and taxes are collected on arrival. Since August 2025, most US orders carry a DHL duty charge, and VAT or GST applies in the UK, Europe, Australia and New Zealand.

If a piece arrives and the fit is not right, or it arrives damaged, you have 10 days from delivery to exchange it. We issue store credit rather than cash refunds, and the piece needs to come back unworn, unwashed, unaltered, with tags attached. Return shipping is yours unless the piece arrived damaged or incorrect.

Pieces customised for you (made to your measurements, in a custom colour or altered to your request) are final sale, because they were cut for you and cannot belong to anyone else. Sale items, anything bought with a discount code of 25% or more, and anything bought with store credit are also final sale. Made-to-order pieces in our standard sizes and colourways can be exchanged.

Orders can be cancelled within 24 hours of placing them.
