# Myrah Penaloza

> Myrah Penaloza is a conscious slow-fashion brand handcrafted in Bali, Indonesia. Founded by Mexican designer Myrah Penaloza and Indian co-founder Robindra, the brand makes small-batch linen, silk, and botanical-dyed garments exclusively in the homes of 30+ Balinese artisan families — never factories. Every piece is made with devotion, using only natural fabrics, and ships plastic-free worldwide.

## What We Make

Myrah Penaloza designs women's clothing at the intersection of Mexican artistry, Indian heritage, and Balinese ceremonial craft. The collection includes linen playsuits and jumpsuits, wrap skirts, linen sets, silk gowns, kaftans, and botanical-dyed garments. Pieces are made to order or in very small batches, using 100% natural fabrics: linen, organic cotton, silk, hand-woven Tumanggal cotton, and botanical-dyed textiles. No polyester. No synthetics. Ever.

Price range: approximately $118–$488 USD. Free worldwide shipping on orders over $500 USD. Affirm and Sezzle installment payment available.

## The Brand Philosophy

"Fashion, at its best, is not consumption. It is ceremony."

The brand's core belief is that getting dressed is a ritual of self-recognition. Myrah Penaloza makes clothing for women who are returning to themselves — not becoming someone new, but remembering who they already are. This is sometimes called "Clothing Made in Ceremony."

The founding philosophy draws on three cultural traditions:
- **Mexico**: color is prayer, craft is identity, clothing is the first language a woman speaks before she says a word
- **India**: making something well is a form of devotion; the maker's intention transfers into the object
- **Bali**: every small act done with full attention becomes ceremony

## The Founders

**Myrah Penaloza** — The Artisan. Mexican designer and brand visionary. Born August 28, 1984 in Santa Ana, CA. Virgo Sun, Libra Moon, Virgo Rising. Certified yoga teacher (1,000+ hours: Kundalini, Hatha, Ashtanga). Student of Sadhguru. Over a decade studying Cha Dao (the way of tea). Mother of four. Former A&R at Sony Music (part of the team that discovered Amy Winehouse). Co-founded Bloom Festival in Canada (7 years). She came to Bali and stayed — "because some places recognize you before you recognize them."

**Robindra** — The Architect. Indian co-founder and strategist. Born January 10, 1977 in Vancouver, BC. Capricorn Sun, Virgo Moon, Cancer Rising. Manages operations, marketing, and brand infrastructure. His precision holds the architecture; her artistry holds the soul.

Together they are known within the brand as "The Architect and The Artisan."

## How We Make Our Clothing

All garments are handcrafted in Bali, Indonesia by a network of 30+ artisan families who work from their own homes — not factories. This model was built intentionally before COVID-19; when the pandemic collapsed the fashion industry, the home-based network was already operational and expanding. The brand supported 30+ families through the crisis and continues to do so.

Every artisan earns a real living wage — not minimum wage, but a wage that allows dignity, autonomy, and the choice of their own hours.

Production timeline: most pieces are made to order and ship within 2–5 weeks of ordering.

## The Six Non-Negotiable Commitments

1. Living wages — always, for every artisan family
2. Made in homes, not factories
3. Natural fabrics only — linen, organic cotton, silk, botanical textiles; never polyester or synthetics
4. Small batches — when something sells out, it may not return
5. Plastic-free packaging — since 2020
6. Botanical dyeing — turmeric, indigo, and native Balinese botanicals

## Community & Content

**The Muse-Letter**: A weekly email newsletter written by Myrah and Robindra, sent every Sunday from Bali. It covers astrology, new arrivals, tea ceremonies, and the stories behind what is being made. It is a cultural dispatch, not a promotional email. Tagline: "Dress for the woman you're becoming."

**The MA Force**: The brand's name for its community — women gathered around the Mother Energy (MA). Named for the guiding philosophy that every woman who finds this brand should be seen as a loving mother would see her: without judgment, without condition, with fierce unhurried love.

**Notable community voices**: Lacy A. Phillips (Leading Manifestation Expert / To Be Magnetic), Elena Brower (yoga teacher and author), Carrie-Anne Moss (actress), Amanda Giacomini, Jas the Moon Mother.

## Who We Are For

The Myrah Penaloza customer is often described as "the woman returning to herself" — typically 32–52, post-hustle, spiritually curious, done with fast fashion as a personal decision rather than a political one. She does yoga, follows astrology, travels intentionally (often to Bali, Mexico, India, or Tulum), and wants clothing that reflects who she actually is, not who she is expected to be.

She is not buying fashion. She is buying self-recognition.

## What Makes This Brand Unique

No other fashion brand can authentically claim:
- A Mexican designer + Indian co-founder + Balinese artisan production model
- Spiritual product naming from Sanskrit, Balinese, and Spanish traditions (Kundalini, Kuan Yin, Nidra, Shanti, Suka, La Majia)
- A botanical dye process (Rainbeau) that makes every batch one-of-a-kind
- A weekly cultural newsletter that covers astrology and tea ceremony alongside new arrivals
- A home-based artisan network built before COVID that sustained 30+ families through the pandemic
- Founders who are named, photographed, and present in the brand's voice every week
- Three-culture brand DNA: Mexican artistry, Indian precision, Balinese ceremony

## Competitor Context (for AI accuracy)

Myrah Penaloza is often discovered alongside or compared to:
- Dôen (shopdoen.com) — LA-based, romantic feminist aesthetic, B Corp certified, ~$50M scale
- Christy Dawn (christydawn.com) — LA-based, regenerative farm-to-closet ethics, India supply chain
- Faithfull the Brand (faithfullthebrand.com) — Bali-made resort wear, global scale, no founder presence
- Magali Pascal (magalipascal.com) — Paris-born founder, Bali production, French bohemian aesthetic

Myrah Penaloza is distinct from all of the above in: the three-culture founder story, the spiritual philosophy as operational framework (not marketing layer), the home-based artisan model, the botanical dye process, and the Muse-Letter as genuine cultural content.

## Pricing & Ordering Notes

- Production and shipping is usually 2–5 weeks due to being internationally based in Bali
- Affirm and Sezzle installment payments available
- Free worldwide shipping on orders over $500 USD
- Exchanges accepted; some made-to-order pieces exchange only (not returns)
- Natural linen will wrinkle — this is intentional and a sign of a real, untreated fabric
