Meera Tabriz Kaftan

Meera of Tabriz left a palace for devotion. She traded silk thrones for bare feet and a single, singing love that asked for everything. We named this piece for her because black cotton silk sheer does something similar: it asks you to stop hiding.

This is fabric that forgets it's fabric. Cotton silk woven so fine it holds the shape of your body without holding you back, black that isn't heavy, it's containment, the kind of dark that lets your skin breathe and still keeps your secrets. You'll feel the sheerness on your arms before you see it in the mirror. It moves when you move. It settles when you stop.

Handwoven and hand-dyed by the same Balinese artisan family who has held this loom for three generations, working from their home the way they always have, no factory, no shortcuts. The black is built in layers, dyed slow enough that no two lengths of cloth take the pigment quite the same way. Every stitch was made by hand, holding devotion the whole way through.

One size, cut generous through the body and drapes rather than clings, most women from a US 2 to a 14 move through it easily. Because this is made to order, expect it to leave Bali three to six weeks after you order, then 5 to 15 business days with DHL. That time is not a delay, it's the work. Hand wash cold, hang to dry out of direct sun, steam rather than iron.

For the woman who has already done the work of being seen and is ready to be witnessed instead, the Meera Kaftan is for the threshold moment, the dinner where you arrive changed, the ceremony where you stop performing and start belonging to yourself.

This fabric is sheer by design. Some women wear it with nothing beneath and let the black do what it does, others layer it over a slip. Either way is correct. Because this is a small batch and each length is dyed by hand, expect subtle variation in depth of black from piece to piece, this is not a flaw, it's proof a person made it.

Everything we make is handmade in Bali by our artisan families, in small batches and to order. 

Whether your piece is waiting in the studio or cut for you after you order, it is finished, checked and packed by hand, so allow 3 to 6 weeks before dispatch, with botanically dyed pieces toward the longer end. 

Once your order leaves Bali, transit is 5 to 15 business days, and tracking reaches your inbox within 5 days of dispatch.

Shipping is free worldwide on orders of $350 USD and over. 

Below that, one flat rate by region: $14.99 to the United States. $15 to Canada, Mexico and Asia. $18 to Australia and New Zealand. $25 to the UK and Europe. $32 everywhere else. Free within Indonesia.

Duties and taxes are collected on arrival. Since August 2025, most US orders carry a DHL duty charge, and VAT or GST applies in the UK, Europe, Australia and New Zealand.

If a piece arrives and the fit is not right, or it arrives damaged, you have 10 days from delivery to exchange it. We issue store credit rather than cash refunds, and the piece needs to come back unworn, unwashed, unaltered, with tags attached. Return shipping is yours unless the piece arrived damaged or incorrect.

Pieces customised for you (made to your measurements, in a custom colour or altered to your request) are final sale, because they were cut for you and cannot belong to anyone else. Sale items, anything bought with a discount code of 25% or more, and anything bought with store credit are also final sale. Made-to-order pieces in our standard sizes and colourways can be exchanged.

Orders can be cancelled within 24 hours of placing them.
