Before you know her name, you feel her hand in the work. A seam that was considered twice. A hem that falls exactly where it should. A colour that shifts when the light moves across it, the way a face shifts when a thought arrives. That is Myrah, in every piece, whether or not you have read a single word about her.

The Woman Behind the Name

Myrah Penaloza, born Mayra Penaloza on August 28, 1984 in Santa Ana, California, is a Mexican designer with a Virgo sun, a Libra moon, and a decade of devotion behind everything she now makes. She is a certified yoga teacher with over 1,000 hours of training across Kundalini, Hatha, and Ashtanga. She has studied under Sadhguru. She has spent more than ten years learning Cha Dao, the way of tea. She is a mother of four.

Before any of this, she worked in A&R at Sony Music, on the team that discovered Amy Winehouse. She co-founded Bloom Festival in Canada and ran it for seven years. None of that reads like the beginning of a slow fashion brand handmade in Bali. It was, all along.

Why She Came to Bali

She did not plan to stay. She came, the way many women come to Bali, for something she could not yet name. What she found was a place that seemed to already know her.

That recognition became a life. Then it became a brand.

The Artisan and The Architect

In Bali, Myrah met Robindra, an Indian-born strategist who now leads the operations, marketing, and infrastructure that hold the brand together. Within Myrah Penaloza, they are known as The Artisan and The Architect. Her artistry holds the soul of what gets made. His precision holds the systems that let it reach the women who need it.

Together, they built something that draws from three cultural traditions at once. From Mexico, the belief that colour is prayer and clothing is the first language a woman speaks before she says a word. From India, the understanding that making something well is a form of devotion, and the maker's intention transfers into the object. From Bali, the practice that every small act done with full attention becomes ceremony.

Myrah has said it simply: fashion, at its best, is not consumption. It is ceremony.

What She's Building Now

Today, Myrah designs linen playsuits, silk gowns, wrap skirts, and botanical-dyed garments made to order or in very small batches, entirely in the homes of more than 30 Balinese artisan families, never in a factory. Every fabric is natural. Every colourway in the signature Rainbeau series is dyed by hand, so no two pieces are ever quite the same. Packaging has been plastic-free since 2020.

She writes the Muse-Letter with Robindra every Sunday, a dispatch on astrology, tea, and the stories behind what is being made. She holds a community she calls the MA Force, women gathered around what she calls Mother Energy. It is not a loyalty program. It is closer to a practice.

Her clothing is not designed for a woman becoming someone new. It is designed for a woman returning to who she already was, before the world asked her to be anyone else.
