The Gloria Dress

The Gloria Dress is a lightweight silk and cotton dress with a round neck and deep side pockets, hand stitched in Bali. It is the newest release from the Oracle Collection, and the first piece in silk.

Gloria means glory.

And glory, in the older sense of the word, has nothing at all to do with volume. It is the word for what shows. The visible part of something that was already there.

Which is the one thing silk does that no other fibre manages. It does not add light. It returns the light already in the room, and it returns it off you.

The silk and the cotton together do what neither does alone. The silk carries that light. The cotton keeps it honest, and keeps it cool against the skin in a way that pure silk never manages. It is light enough to travel in and fine enough that you will not want to.

The neck is round and open, and that is deliberate. It is the one neckline that leaves room for whatever you choose to wear at your throat. There are deep side pockets, because your hands have to live somewhere.

It is hand stitched by the artisan families who have made for this house since the beginning, each of them paid a real living wage, never a factory garment. Silk and cotton, no synthetics, as with everything we make.

Nothing about this dress makes you more than you were. It only makes it harder to miss.

The matching layer

There is a Gloria Jacket cut from the same silk cotton. Take the dress on its own, the jacket on its own, or the two together as a set using the option above.

Colorways

Off White Perla is named for the pearl it matches, a white with warmth inside it rather than glare.

Dark Moon Black is the other half of the argument. The same cloth and the same cut, and it does not read as the same dress.

The honest note

Silk does not crease the way linen does. It relaxes rather than holds, so most of what a day puts into it falls out overnight. Keep it out of long direct sun, which is the one thing silk will not forgive.

Made in small batches, so when a size is gone it may be gone for a season.

Common questions

How does it compare to the Oracle Gown?

Both are long, both are made by the same hands. The Oracle Gown is stone washed linen with a high Japanese neckline and a bow at the side. The Gloria is silk and cotton with a round neck, lighter on the body and quieter in the hand. The Gown is the ceremony. This one is the evening after it.

Can I add the jacket?

Yes. Choose Dress + Jacket in the option above and both pieces arrive together in your size and colorway. The jacket is also available on its own.

Can I wear it to a wedding?

Yes, and it is one of the few pieces that works as a guest, as a witness, or as the woman getting married in something other than a wedding dress. Off White Perla for the second, Dark Moon Black for the first.

What does the name mean?

Gloria is glory, and it carries an 8. Saturn's number. Structure, and abundance that was earned rather than given.

How do I care for it?

Cold hand wash, or a gentle cycle in a mesh bag. Hang to dry out of direct sun. Do not wring it.

Everything we make is handmade in Bali by our artisan families, in small batches and to order. 

Whether your piece is waiting in the studio or cut for you after you order, it is finished, checked and packed by hand, so allow 3 to 6 weeks before dispatch, with botanically dyed pieces toward the longer end. 

Once your order leaves Bali, transit is 5 to 15 business days, and tracking reaches your inbox within 5 days of dispatch.

Shipping is free worldwide on orders of $350 USD and over. 

Below that, one flat rate by region: $14.99 to the United States. $15 to Canada, Mexico and Asia. $18 to Australia and New Zealand. $25 to the UK and Europe. $32 everywhere else. Free within Indonesia.

Duties and taxes are collected on arrival. Since August 2025, most US orders carry a DHL duty charge, and VAT or GST applies in the UK, Europe, Australia and New Zealand.

If a piece arrives and the fit is not right, or it arrives damaged, you have 10 days from delivery to exchange it. We issue store credit rather than cash refunds, and the piece needs to come back unworn, unwashed, unaltered, with tags attached. Return shipping is yours unless the piece arrived damaged or incorrect.

Pieces customised for you (made to your measurements, in a custom colour or altered to your request) are final sale, because they were cut for you and cannot belong to anyone else. Sale items, anything bought with a discount code of 25% or more, and anything bought with store credit are also final sale. Made-to-order pieces in our standard sizes and colourways can be exchanged.
