The Threshold Before the Eclipse: A Letter for Leo Season
Written from a quiet morning in Pererenan, before the heat sets in.

The light has changed here. I noticed it first in the garden — the sun sitting higher and staying later, the shadows under the frangipani tree growing short and then shorter still. We are in Leo season now, and Bali knows it before the calendar does. Everything is a little louder, a little more golden, a little less willing to stay small.
"I do not perform my brightness. I simply stop hiding it."
I have been sitting with that line for a week now, turning it over the way you turn a shell over in your palm on the beach at low tide. It arrived the same morning I read that this Leo season carries us toward something bigger than a birthday month — a New Moon solar eclipse on August 12th, sitting right in Leo's own house. Eclipses are thresholds. They don't ask permission. They arrive, and they ask you to walk through.
The Season of Ruling Your Own Life
Leo is the sign of the sovereign, but not the kind who rules over others — the kind who finally rules her own life. Her own calendar. Her own closet. Her own morning. If you have spent the last few months deferring, softening, waiting to be chosen, this season is asking you to choose first. Not loudly. Not for an audience. Just true to the part of you that has been dimming its own light to make a room feel comfortable.
What the Eclipse Is Asking
Eclipse seasons have a way of closing doors we were too polite to close ourselves. A friendship that had already ended in every way but the paperwork. A version of your business, or your body, or your mornings, that you built to please someone who is no longer in the room. The eclipse on the 12th isn't asking you to force anything. It's asking you to stop holding doors open out of habit.
A Ritual for the Threshold
Here is what I have been doing, and what I want to pass to you. Before bed, on the night of a new moon, I warm a little oil between my palms — coconut, sometimes with a drop of ylang ylang — and I work it slowly into my scalp, at the temples first, then back toward the crown. It is not about the hair, not really. It is about touching yourself with intention before you ask anything of the world. Ten slow minutes. No phone. Just your own hands, telling your own body: I see you, I am staying, I am not going anywhere even if everything else is shifting.
The Woman Who Stops Apologizing for Her Light
I think of the women I have made pieces for over the years who came to me mid-transformation — leaving a marriage, leaving a job that dimmed them, leaving a version of themselves that everyone else preferred. They all say some version of the same thing: it felt like eclipse season before I knew what that meant. A door closed. Then, without ceremony, a truer one opened. Leo season doesn't ask you to be the loudest woman in the room. It asks you to stop shrinking to fit a room that was never built for you.
Wherever you are on your own threshold this month, I hope you let yourself stand in the doorway a little longer than feels comfortable. Let the light hit you fully before you decide what's next.
A Piece for This Threshold

Anusara Set
Named for the flow of grace — a homecoming of a set, the Mona pant returning wide and easy through the leg, gathered soft at the ankle. It is not a piece you perform in. It is a piece you arrive in, already yourself, already sovereign, already home.
With love from Bali,
Myrah.
